This control centre covers the counties of Powys, Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire. The POIs in this centre are being expanded and once this is complete the centre will be expanded.

Districts

This control centre is split into districts;

P - This is the South Dyfed District covering South Pembrokeshire & Carmarthenshire. The Fire HQ for this area is Carmarthen & the Ambulance HQ for this area is Pembroke.

C - This is the North Dyfed & Powys District covering Cardiganshire, North Pembrokeshire & Powys. The Fire HQ for this area is Builth Wells & the Ambulance HQ for this area is Aberystwyth

Callsigns

Callsigns have 4 elements.

The first element is the managing agency this will be A for Ambulance or F for Fire.

The second element is the radio group this will be P for South Dyfed, C for North Dyfed & Powys or T for Non-Urgent Transport.

The third element is the resource type for example DCA will refer to a double crewed ambulance.

The fourth element is the resource identifier, this is a unique number to that resource type.

For example a Rapid Response Vehicle in the South Dyfed District will be AP-RRV05

Emergency Ambulance Resources

CFR - Community First Responder, These are volunteer medical units how can be deployed to incidents, they are found in rural areas often based at the fire station.

RRV - Rapid Response Vehicles, These are First-Responder Paramedics who can deploy to incidents.

DCA - Double Crewed Ambulance, This is the standard ambulance which will be sent to any call and carries a paramedic.

OO - Operations Officer, This is an incident commander who can be deployed to major incidents to manage the scene.

OM - Operations Manager, This is a senior incident commander who can be deployed to major incidents to manage the scene.

CC - Critical Care, This is advanced paramedic who can deploy to serious medical incidents.

MH - Mental Health Response, This is a Mental Health Response vehicle that can be deployed to incidents, these provide limited cover only at set times.

HEMS - Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, this unit is based at Aberporth and can provide advanced life support.

HART - Hazardous Area Response Team, this is an advanced team that can deploy into hazardous areas such as where there are concerns over chemicals or radiation and can also deploy alongside Police to major incidents.

Non-Emergency Ambulance Resources

IH - Air Intensive Care Unit, This can be used for transport between different hospitals where this transport is needed quickly and where there are intensive needs of the patient on board.

ST - Standard Transport, This is a non-urgent transport ambulance that can be used to transport patients between facilities.

IT - Road Intensive Care Unit, This is a road based intensive care unit that can transport patients between hospitals where they have urgent needs that cannot be managed via air.

Fire Resources

LE - Light Engine, This is a retained/on-call light fire engine.

RE - Retained Standard Engine, This is a retained/on-call standard fire engine.

SE - Standard Engine, This is a full time standard fire engine.

IC - Incident Commander, This is the senior member of the Fire & Rescue Service who will take operational command at the incident.

TC - Tactical Commander, This is a senior role who would provide direction to the incident commander.

CT - Command Truck, This is a large unit for managing major incident.

CV - Command Van, This is a smaller unit for managing incidents.

DC - Decontamination Truck, This would deploy alongside a response to hazardous materials.

HZ - Hazmat Truck, This would deploy to deal with Hazardous Materials, such as Chemical Fires.

LA - Aerial Ladder, This allows rescue at heights.

LT - Logistics Truck, This truck provides Logistical Support.

PT - Pod Truck, This unit can convey ‘PODs’ containing specialist equipment such as foam.

RC - Rescue, This unit can assist with rescues such as at RTCs or Water Rescues.

TE - Heavy Rescue Tender, This unit can provide additional equipment to assist rescues.

TV - Transport Van, Used to transport staff.

WC - Water Carrier, This unit carries additional water.
